Welcome to Fieldend
|
Fieldend in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, is accepted as one of the finest examples of Span housing in the UK.
Completed in 1960, the estate was awarded a Housing Gold Award in 1961 and a Civic Trust Award in 1962. Most recently it has been made a conservation area by the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames council in recognition of its architectural merit. |

Fieldend is a group of 51 houses set in acres of landscaped gardens. Span developments aim to foster a sense of community and this is certainly the case in Fieldend. Fieldend is within 10 minutes walking distance of Teddington town centre. It is close to local schools (primary and secondary) and public transport. Our CommunityFieldend is a wonderful, idyllic place to live, safe, with great play areas, great landscaping and light and airy houses. Cars are parked away from the houses; People have to walk around the paths that wind through the woodland-style communal grounds and meet one another. Originally predominantly occupied by young professionals, Fieldend residents now span a wide age range. Many have never left since buying their houses in the sixties, some houses are now home to second-generation "Fieldenders" and their families, in recent years a revived interest in sharp, modernist architecture has attracted new young professional families to the estate. |
“Ever wished you lived somewhere where a sense of community still existed, where kids could play safely outside, and neighbours were friends, not strangers? Well, places like this do exist: they’re called span developments.”
